Comcast-Spectacor Names New Executive Vice President, CFO

Comcast-Spectacor, the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm, today announced the promotion of Jay Halbert to Executive Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Since joining Comcast Spectacor from Venue One in early 2007, Halbert has served as the company’s Vice President of Finance. Halbert succeeds Sandy Lipstein, who recently retired after 23 years as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

In addition to assuming his new responsibilities, Halbert will also join Comcast-Spectacor’s Office of the Chair. As the firm’s executive management group, the Office of the Chair consists of Chairman Ed Snider; Vice Chairman Fred Shabel; President Peter Luukko; Executive Vice President and General Counsel Phil Weinberg and Halbert. Lipstein will also continue to serve the company as an emeritus member of the Office of the Chair, as well as on a consulting basis.

“Over the past year, Jay has spent invaluable time working with Sandy Lipstein in order to assure a smooth transition of the finance function for all of our entities,” said Snider. “We’re delighted to have him join us in the Office of the Chair. While Sandy’s tireless dedication to our company, and to me personally, has been immeasurable, I know he has trained Jay well as his successor.”

Halbert is a 1992 graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his law degree from NYU School of Law in 1995, and then spent two years as a corporate associate with the New York law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell. Halbert then moved to the investment banking industry, where he worked at both Wasserstein Perella & Co. and Price Waterhouse Securities. He then gained experience in the venture capital industry at NewSpring Ventures, before becoming the CFO of Venue One.
