The Cheetah Girls nationwide concert tour supports the soundtrack and third Disney Channel Original Movie, “The Cheetah Girls One World.” The soundtrack features 12 hip-hop, R&B, and Indian-influenced tracks performed by the tween superstars. The movie’s anthem song and the soundtrack’s lead single, “One World” will be featured in The Cheetah Girls’ set, along with favorites from the first two movies and soundtracks.
The Cheetah Girls began as a 2003 Disney Channel Original Movie based on the best-selling book series for kids and tweens written by award-winning author Deborah Gregory (Jump at the Sun/Hyperion Books for Children). Within two years of the movie’s debut, the group gained a large fan base, topped the soundtrack charts with a double-platinum soundtrack and enjoyed a highly rated DVD release. In 2006, “The Cheetah Girls 2” made its debut and was the #1 basic cable movie among kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. The soundtrack entered in the top ten on The Billboard 200, topped the soundtrack chart and was certified platinum.
Following the success of The Cheetah Girls 2 soundtrack and movie, the group embarked on their first national tour that grossed $26 million over 86 concert dates, sold $10 million in tour merchandise in a mere five months, and helped set a new record for the largest sales in the history of the Houston Rodeo in 2007 with an impressive 73,200 tickets sold (a record previously held by Brooks & Dunn).
