America’s Newly Crowned Olympic Heroes to perform at Wachovia Center (Oct 23)

The world’s top two gymnasts – Olympic All Around champion Nastia Liukin and All Around Silver Medalist Shawn Johnson – join the Bronze Medal winning men’s gymnastics team at the “2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars” at the Wachovia Center on Thursday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. The one night celebration will also feature Olympic legend Shannon Miller and an exclusive performance from Jordan Pruitt, who was recently named #1 on Radio Disney.

Tickets at $30, $40, $50, $75, and a select number of VIP seats are available via ComcastTIX.com, 1-800-298-4200, the Wachovia Complex Box Office, or select ACME locations.

Earlier this morning (U.S. Eastern Time), Liukin and Johnson instantly solidified their places as America’s sweethearts by finishing 1-2 in the women’s Olympic All Around. It is the first time the United States put two gymnasts on the medal stand in the event in Olympic history.

Liukin now joins Mary Lou Retton, in 1984, and Carly Patterson, in 2004, as the only American all-around winners. Earlier this week, the American women took team silver, behind China.

Also this past week, the U.S. Men’s Gymnastics Team surprised the world by winning the team Bronze Medal with a score of 275.850, without the help of Paul and Morgan Hamm. China won the gold medal with 286.125 points with Japan taking silver at 278.875 points. Following the Olympics, the men will reunite with their former teammates Paul and Morgan in the tour.

The All-Star event at the Wachovia Center will bring the Olympic spirit back to Philadelphia, as the event combines the current superstars with the legends of Miller and Blaine Wilson. The unique and entertaining theatrical experience will show off the talented gymnasts, who will perform to the musical hits of today including top recorded songs from Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, and KSM in addition to Pruitt - live and in person.

The U.S. Olympic Team for men’s gymnastics includes: Alexander Artemev of Highlands Ranch, Colo./Team Chevron; Raj Bhavsar of Houston/Team Chevron; Joseph Hagerty of Rio Rancho, N.M./Team Chevron; Jonathan Horton of Houston/Team Chevron; Justin Spring of Burke, Va./Team Chevron; and Kevin Tan of Fremont, Calif./Team Chevron. The replacement athlete is David Durante of Garwood, N.J./Team Chevron.
